Protect from the landslides
How to respond to landslides
To protect the population from landslides, authorities can take several measures, such as installing nets on cliffs and gabion walls or prohibiting construction in high-risk areas.
Weather monitoring, including monitoring rainfall, which can be a triggering factor, is also an essential tool, as is geological monitoring, as earthquakes and volcanic eruptions can trigger ground movements.
How to respond to landslides
Citizens should find out about risk areas and stay away from them.
During a landslide, buildings must be evacuated and people must not return inside. They must quickly move away from the danger zone, heading in the opposite direction to the danger.
After a landslide, never go to the site before experts have investigated it, as the ground remains unstable.
