Hurricane season in the Caribbean has begun : have you prepared your emergency kit ?
Why prepare an emergency kit ?
The hurricane season is officially underway and will last until November 30.
Preparing an emergency kit is not about giving in to panic ; it is simply about choosing to be ready and facing unexpected situations with greater peace of mind. As long as no storm or hazardous event has been announced, now is the ideal time to prepare.
Having an emergency kit helps you cope with the first 72 hours following a major event under better conditions.
What should an emergency kit contain ?
An emergency kit should contain everyday essentials : water, food, medications, a flashlight, a radio, and other essential supplies. It should be stored in a safe place, be easily accessible, and remain light enough to carry quickly if necessary. Remember to adapt it to the specific needs of your household (children, elderly people, pets, medical treatments, etc.).
To help you prepare your kit, watch our explanatory video and download the checklist to quickly verify that you have everything you need before an emergency occurs.
And don’t forget to replenish your kit after using it !
